Log (with no small subscripted number) is the "common log." It is a log of base 10. The ln is the natural log, and it is log base e. All rules for common and natural logs the same as log base b of x, except now the base is defined as either 10 or e, (Remember, e is JUST A NUMBER, like pi.)\
